All participant, regardless of age or experience, start at the PLAYer level. The levels of our Life Skills Experience are as follows: PLAYer, Par, Birdie, Eagle, and Ace. As participants progress through our Life Skills Experience, they learn new curriculum and concepts that build on previous classes. In order for a participant to enter the next level of First Tee, they will need to certify at their current level. For example, a participant must be ‘PLAYer Certified’ before enrolling in the Par level.

At the end of each session, participants are given the opportunity to complete the certification process. Participants must complete and pass written assessments and the certification process based on golf skills and golf knowledge. This process allows parents and participants to understand what areas need improvement to certify and move on to the next level. The certification requirements vary based on class level. Please see the following graphic for specific requirements on certifying at each level.

If the participant meets all criteria required to pass a level, they will be considered ‘Certified’ for that level and will be eligible to move to the next level. The certification process is cumulative, meaning that participants who have previously participated in an assessment at their current level will not need to repeat the completed requirements in subsequent assessments if they stay at their current level for multiple sessions. However, all certification requirements will reset once the participant moves to the next level. For example, if a participant has completed all the PLAYer level certification requirements and moves to the Par level, they will then be responsible for completing all the requirements at the Par level.

*Please note, First Tee Coaches reserve the right to decide if a participant is ready to progress to the next level of the program based on behavior, regardless if they passed all assessments.
